Justin Bieber took to social media to troll Shawn Mendes for being named the ‘Prince of Pop’ on a magazine cover! Hailey Baldwin’s husband argued that Shawn has to ‘break more records’ until he can actually take that title from him!

Mendes was on The Observer Magazine’s cover and that is where he was given his new ‘royal title’ in the music industry.

Seeing this, Bieber decided to repost the cover on his own platform and make fun of Shawn for it – in a playful non-threatening kind of way, of course.

That being said, Justin wrote: ‘Hmm. Gonna have to break a few records more to take my title there bud (canadian voice)… but if you want we can play hockey for it but I heard you’re a real bender on the ice so we can just drop the buckets and tilt for it.’

As soon as social media users started to think Justin was being serious in his ‘attack’ of his fellow artist, he came back online to explain that ‘There is no competition and it as a playful joke people relax… there is no sides we are all just here to make dope music. I am just competitive as is he so it was just a little playful jargon.’

Sure enough, Shawn was not offended and got the joke since he responded to Justin’s original post with: ‘LOL any time any day you just let me know!!!!!!’

Despite the fact that Shawn allegedly dated Hailey Baldwin for a little bit before she married Justin, the two Canadian singers have a pretty friendly relationship.
